First and foremost I just gotta say that I think that no matter how much money Congress strips from PBS from DoD, the budget will never get balanced and stable until the entitlement programs (Medicare, Social Security) are thoroughly reformed and trimmed.

NOW...I love NASCAR, but this is an area that can be cut from the Federal budget. The U.S. govt doesn't need to be subsidizing a professional sports league through this kind of sponsorship.

Yes, auto racing events are filled with good, patriotic young folks that frequently seek to serve our country...but that's exactly why this is an area that can handle being cut. Recruiting goals are being met. The U.S. Army can be choosy on who they allow to enlist, so why spend so much money to increase that pool? Until we can get a big chunk of our national debt paid off, NASCAR will just need to deal without the army's sponsorship.
